Working Hard or Hardly Working

Typically we capture moments of joy and fun in photographs but we do spend a large chunk of our lives on activies that involve work.  Here is a collection of photographs dedicated to a strong work ethic.

Painting the inside of the basement bulkhead door is a well chosen spot for this crew. I have started a Kickstarter campaign to have Jeff wear that same outfit to Jake's graduation party.
"How do I get this thing in gear and really get moving"
My Dad 'back in the day' looking happy to be outside working.

Not exactly sure what the objective was here.... perhaps digging for gold.  I am sure Jake was being helpful.
Uncle Gary hard at work.  Favorite part of photo is the "think happy today" poster hanging behind him - very Kuhn.

Cheap labor

Dad helping on the move into our first house in Natick.
Grandma Kuhn teaching a masters level course in cookie making

Jake's first time mowing the lawn.  Big step !

Me with some colleagues in a clean room at Boston Scientific.  The hairnet really brings out the blue in my eyes.
A little Midwest humor.  Believe this is Dad helping build the cabin up at Pipe Lake.
Dad installing hoop at 1st house in Natick. Backboard came from Hastings Rd.

My first job at Kessler Financial in the Back Bay.  Could not ask for a better first job.  Especially since that is where I met my bride.

Catherine getting things done when visiting me at KFS.

4th grade at Burbank - Mr. Lapine.  " Greg your handwriting is atrocious, I can't even read that.."  Miami Dolphins sweatshirt ?

Even before Obama promised shovel ready jobs - I was ready.

Mothers

“There’s no way to be a perfect mother and a million ways to be a good one.” - Jill Churchill. This blog entry is dedicated to Mother's and their daughters.

Karen with Kelsey enjoying some ice cream
Cut !!!  My Mom and her mother looking like two directors on a movie set.
Pretty sure this is moving into Ohio State.  Also pretty sure I was not as dressed up when I moved into ASU

Karen and her Mom on the way to her brother's wedding in Oklahoma.  Her mom's first plane trip.

Mom and Dede.   Wonder if Mom bought that coat for warmth or fashion.

The Kuhn girls looking very stylish.  Right before taking the picture the photographer must have said "look in three different directions"

Out international jet setters.

Kathy looknig very 80's

Wheelworks

As a youngster, I would use pedal power to get around the mean streets of Belmont and even ride my one-speed into Boston at an age that would now draw the attention of child protection services.  I spent my 4+ years at ASU getting around on my Schwinn.  I still enjoy biking around Natick on the weekends.  Here are a collection of photos focused on bikes.
Kathy and Dede - part of the Totten Pond Road Outlaws biker gang

Those are ghosts tied to the handlebars to ward off evil spirits.    That helmet would only protect Kelsey if she  fell directly on the crown of her head..

Kelsey waiting for somebody to drive her around (foreshadowing her teen years)

Sure his feet can't touch the ground - what is the worst thing that can happen

From that face I think she just ran over Dede

"I don't care how cold it is ... go outside and ride " - Mom

Jake looking thrilled to be out on a ride

My beautiful bride in San Diego

Mom and Dad in their biking outfits
Those handle bars are coming back in style any day now
The last known picture of Jake on a bike.

I snapped this on recent trip to the Netherlands (Maastricht).  Everybody rides bikes there... it is awesome.

Amusement

There is nothing quite like filling yourself with overpriced, really bad food and then seeing if you can make yourself sick by going on spinny rides.    You start out putting your kids on tame rides at the zoo and before you know it, you are driving to New Jersey to seek out the fastest and tallest roller coasters around.  Below are a collecton of photos at amusement parks.

Ahh Cotton Candy... back in the good old days when it came on a stick - not in a bag.  Cheating a bit - as this is really at the zoo.. but they had rides !

More Cotton Candy. What is Brett Baird doing with a sno cone ?  Can Mormons not eat Cotton Candy ??

Classic picture of Jake and Alex loving the hopper

More recent trip to Canobie with a more extreme version of the hopper ride.  Kelsey, Jake Tyska and Jake
Scrambler !   Why is Dede wearing overalls and a long sleeve shirt ? Not many advanced safety options on this ride
Recent trip to Six Flags in NJ.  Adam, Jake, Hannah and Kelsey
Nan on an empty ride

Jake riding with Mom and Kelsey.  The animal options get more diverse as the years go by...

Can't get enough of merry-go-round pictures ?  The 2008 road trip.

Uncle Jeffy and Bretto ridding the skateboard at MOM

Kath and Jeff.  What was the name of this ride ?
He has got fighter pilot written all over him....
Don't worry Kathy, you are in good hands.
Look at me in the front row !  Everest @ Disney

Whenever the kids were on this ride I would always think to myself "boy I wish the kids would ring those bells more".  The people operating this ride were not paid enough
Now that Jake is driving - I need a second steering wheel on my car.

Jeff on the Skyway.  A little sad this is now my favorite ride again

Two pictures over 30 years and 1,000 miles apart.   Is that the same car ?!?!  Somebody check the VIN #
One person seems to be having slightly less fun... God bless her for going on....
